The Drymifolia Collective
#231
Seedling of:
 "Grand-daughter"
Germinated:

Has very vividly red leaves, and grew vigorously in its first season. Oddly enough the older leaves seem more frost tender than the new ones.

Deer damage2024-11-23 17:35:30Here's a photo of the damage from deer that happened last night.
A photo update, after light frost but before any hard frosts2024-11-23 16:45:34It's 34" high, and was still doing well after about 3 light frosts. The deer ate some of its leaves on two occasions recently, and this morning had basically denuded it, but left it alone during summer when they had more forage to choose from. The graft is still alive and has one cluster of small leaves, but is not growing as much as the rest of the tree. Photo is from 11/21/24, before the deer ate the rest of its leaves.
Graft2023-12-29 05:13:39Just added a graft of Long South Gate.
Update2023-12-08 20:21:49Oddly showed no damage to new leaves, but slight to moderate damage to older leaves at 30°F. Was taken in greenhouse for two 28°F nights so far
